My 2002 Beetle makes a ticking noise while the ignition is off. Any idea what could be wrong?

 

what kind of ticking noise is your beetle making? does it sound like it's coming from the stereo or somewhere else? could be a faulty amp?

 

it is a constant ticking noise coming from underneath the hood. 24/7. sounds like it is coming form the driver side of the car. you can hear it from across the yard when its quiet outside. definitely isnt the radio though :/
