Default 74 Bug , need assistance , mostly clutch

Hello All , I am looking for advice to send me in the right direction . This is my first VW and I am not afraid of what needs to be done , But I would like the input of those who have boldly gone before . What I have is a 74 beetle with a 71 1600 engine # AE 020090 with a trans out of a 71 cabrio ? #AM 25 06 3 , and what I need to know is what clutch pivot arm do I need to upgrade to the "newer style" T/O bearing - what length clutch cable I need - and what clutch assembly would be the best fit .? The trans has the 3 holes for the T/O bearing sleeve so that is not an issue . I am currently body off because the thing was in such dire shape , BUT It will be whole again soon with your help . Thanks , Mark

I guess I dont understand , Where are the introductions ? And why are you questioning my reasons for joining a forum on VWs . I believe most people join to LEARN more on a new acquisition or seek advice from so called experts . Not to obtain free ADVISE and then use it to benefit anything other than their own personal use .

The engine is out of a 71 it was built in august of 1970 , The trans is out of a 71 cabriolet that had a 1300 engine with 4.37 gear . Thats all I can find on it . The body and chassis were built sept/oct 1973 .
