70 Bug starter problem
this is a car that we fixed for my sister to drive back in her high school days. which she is now 23 and out of college. anyways after sitting in showroom restored condition for over 6-7 years and collecting an inch of dust. we have decided to get it running. i've got eveything figured out except for the starter. my dad talked to a volkswagen mechanic friend of his and he said this problem was common yet he didn't bother to try to ask him how to fix it. what it's doing is after 3-4 times cranking it won't do anything when you turn the key. the dask lights dim so i know it's atleast kicked in in the switch. it will however turn if you cross over the starter by hand. this guy said that they don't get enough juice to the starter. i would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to fix this. my whole family is too lazy to actually fix it and since i never got a project car it's pissing me off just looking at it.

RE: 70 Bug starter problem
The starter isn't that difficult to replace if needed. There are also hard start kits available to boost the power to the starter when the key is turned to the start position. Do the simple things first though. Check the battery and cables, those usually prove to be the biggest culprets.
If no one wants to fix it and all it's going to do is collect dust, then perhaps you could just let me know where I can pick it up
