2000 1.8 TURBO BLOWING OFF COOLANT HOSES
COOL LOOKING FORUM GUYS ..... MY PROBLEM IS WITH A CUSTOMERS 2000 BEETLE 1.8 TURBO ... IT STARTED WITH THE ENGINE OVERHEATING ...I FOUND A SMALL PIN HOLE IN A LINE ... FIXED THAT AND REMOVED ALL AIR FROM SYSTEM , EVERYTHING WAS FINE IN THE SHOP AND PROCEEDED FOR ROAD TEST. 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT SO WE TURNED AROUND AND BACK TO SHOP WE WENT ...TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND LET IT COOL DOWN , WHILE WE WERE DOING THAT ,WE HEARD A SMALL SOUND COMING FROM BEHIND THE RAD. THERE IS A SMALL CIRCULATING PUMP BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE RAD. ...THIS THING WILL RUN FOR 5 MINS. TO 1 HOUR WITH KEY OUT OF IGN. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS IS AND WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS UNIT ???? SO IT FINALLY COOLED DOWN AND TOPPED THE TANK OFF AGAIN AND I THOUGHT I HAD ALL THE AIR OUT . BUT WHEN I REVED UP THE ENGINE SEEN BUBBLES STILL IN THE E-TANK ??? SO I PUT CAP ON THE TANK REVED IT UP AND IT BLEW OFF A SMALL HOSE 3/4" BY THE T-STAT HOUSING ...??? I KNOW THE CLAMP WAS TIGHT .... AND THE ENGINE HAS BEEN FRESHENED 15,000 MILES AGO .... I DONT KNOW IF THE HEAD GASKET IS GONE OR IF THAT CIRCULATING PUMP UP BY THE RAD IS RESTRICTING THE FLOW OF THE COOLANT ????? IF ANYONE HAS SUM INFO .....THIS WOULD BE VERY COOL ..THANKS IN ADVANCE................ JIM
