Default 1999 beetle shifting issues

My 1999 Beetle 5 speed doesn't like to go in reverse . After we had a new clutch put in, it doesn't like to go into reverse. you have to keep messing with it to get it to drop in. It really seems like 1st has moved over to the rev. spot. Anyone ever had to deal with this issue?

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

Its difficult to diagnose on the web without seeing the vehicle.

Who fitted the new clutch?

Check the selector rods were connected properly. Bleed the clutch hydraulics.
There is no synchromesh on reverse as the forward gears have.

Had the shop by me do the clutch. I found out it's a plastic guide up on the trans... This isn't my first post either... I found a video on YouTube that explains it...
