I have an opportunity to buy a 2000 GLX, for $700.00. It is immaculate except the 1.8t (APH)is shot. I assume it lost a belt and slapped the pistons and valves together. I was told only the 2000 and 2001 1.8t from a Beetle will fit. Is there anything else I can swap in? What other options do I have? I'm not familiar with VW, but my daughter loves them. She is currently driving a 98 Jetta GL. I'mused to US made products, so your knowledge and expertise is greatly appreciated.
