Default 04 Beetle - cv boots leaking

My 04 Beetle has CV Axel boots that are worn and leaking. Do most of you replace just the boots or the entire axle? I would think the OEM axels are top notch compared to replacement ones.

Just replace the CV boot its cheaper unless it knocks on lock then replace the CV joint and boot.

The CV boots are $ 17.00 each here in town at Oreily Auto, = $ 35.00 per side + labor, new axles from them are $ 75.00. However I am of the opinion the VW axles should be of way better quality than the new ones as I am sure they are made in china.
