you need to make sure the fcc code on your exisiting key matches the replacement key you are seeking. if the code match, then the key will work on your car..

you'll need to reprogram the new key to you car as well, i can send you the instruction. however this is something you can also find online.

 

I also have a 2000 Jetta GLS and I need another Key b/c I bought the car pre-owned and it only came with one key.
How can I find out if the fcc code on my existing key matches the one you have for sale. Also, where can I find insructions
on how to reprogram keys for my car?

 

1) Both 735 AM Keys are sole
2) To find the FCC code, you need to "open" the existing key for the code. You will find a "slot" on the non logo side of the key. Put a flat head screw driver and turn. It should "split" the key open.

 

The FCC ID is a perfect match to the key I have now, but there are a couple slight differences in the first and last lines. Is that a problem? If the key will work, then I will take it.

 

The FCC ID determines the key frequency. Other numbers, to the best of my knowledge, are various part number/reference for the key. Sometimes, Audi/VW will create the same key frequency but using differen part numbers. ie, 2 button vs 3 button keys. If you like, i can send you a photo of the key but will need your email address.
