Default Performance Chips for 2002 Eurovan VR6

My brother recommended I install a performance enhancing chip in my VR6 motor to boost horsepower and MPG. I have done some poking around and there seems to be many manufacturers/types. I was hoping someone might have some experience with these and may have a recommendation. I am a little leery, as I have had some repair issues with this vehicle, but if it could do what is advertised I would be stoked. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks Mwatters,
My Eurovan is a 2002 MV Weekender. Have you actually used one of these G-Force chips before? I am just curious if there is any reason not to install one, as they seem too good to be true. I mean if they do all that they claim why don't shops recommend them? I know that the achilles heel of these vehicles are their transmission. Will adding horsepower and torque accelerate the transmissions demise?
