Hello to all from a VW neophyte! I have been given a 1981 Rabbit with the 1.6l (if I remember correctly) normally-aspirated diesel injection engine. I'm having the block bored and honed and will put it back together and run the car with it, but I can't help but wonder - What else will fit this car as far as engine and transmission? I'm particularly interested in turbo-diesel and five-speed; as I love the "sleeper" performance concept. The YouTube footage of the Race-Taxi Transporter is awe-inspiring! This car is a four-door, and it goes against everything I stand for to hot-rod a sedan, but what better sleeper could there be? Any other advice, input and ridicule will be more than welcome.
