I own a '93 Westfalia with the pop top. It has a165k miles and recently I have had trouble getting it into 1st gear. It will go into 1st but it is very difficult. There is no grinding or other mechanical soundit just doesn't want to go into 1st gear. I was told it may possibly be the synchronizers. Has anyone else had experience with this and if so what are the ball park repair costs? Thanks.

 

If it were the synchronizers it would grind when you
try to shift into that gear. I would try changing the tranny
fluid, and maybe go with synthetic equivalent,
