97 jetta 2.0 gls,

Ok so i have a 97 mkIII jetta gls with the 2.0 engine and i was considering turboing the car, but i am on a very very tight budget (high school budget blows) and i have been trying to figure out what i can do in the way of turboing or doing a big power for little money upgrade . EIP Tuning (found at www.eiptuning.com) used to carry a turbo kit for the 8v (which i have) for about 2 grand, which is way out of my price range, so has anyone else done a very inexpnsive upgrade that will get me to where i want, i'm looking for 50-75 hp bump, not huge, and i'm not gonna even consider running nos, so to me that means turbo or supercharger, but i'd rather have a turbo and it seems that they tend to be cheaper from what i have seen, any input?
