Smile Wanna buy a VDub

So I've been looking for a new (used) car for a while now, and I think I found the one I am gonna get. The only issue is I dont know alot about Volkswagens. I've been a mechanic for years, and know alot about american cars (being from the detroit area it's a little over run with american cars) and I am unsure of this one I'm looking to buy. For example, I know with Jeep Straight 6 motors, you almost ALWAYS replace the head gasket at 95-100,000 miles, is there anything to look out for in this car?

It's a 2003 Jetta VR6, 6 speed manual, with 70,000 original miles. A good friend said that the 1.8T needs the timing belt done at 60,000, but this being the VR6 and I'd like a little more info on it. I heard to look for check engine lights (obviously), test ALL electrical systems, and look for leaking sunroof.

What else should I check on or be leary of in this specific model???

Any help is seriously appreciated because for the price, this car will be gone QUICK!!!

Thanks in advance ;-)
