Default VW MK4 Transmission leaks

Lately, my 2000 VW Golf 4 has been losing huge amounts of ATF. I cant figure out how and where its going because there are no leaks or ATF drops below the car at all but the gearbox looks wet and covered in ATF and dust. My mechanic also cant seem to find the point of leakage. The ATF leaks are so bad that the car can exhaust 4ltrs in about a week. I suspect ATF escapes through damaged ATF lines due to pressure whenever the car is in motion because when the engine is off, there are leaks visible. Has anyone experienced this? I need to locate the leak ASAP before it causes in more damages. Please help
