Happy to see an active community re: VWs.

I'm considering getting a New Beetle and am doing my due diligence. One question I have is about gas mileage. The stated ratings seem to be in the neighborhood of 22 mpg city and 27 highway but then I've also heard many say they get higher. I'm looking at a 1999 with 65K miles -- ideas on what to expect for mpg?

thanks!

Hey all... Not really THAT new to VWs, but kind of. Last VW I had was about 4 years ago and was a 01' GTi 1.8t... Looking at a 2008 VW Jetta S with almost 25k on it but looking here for info on whether or not they have improved since the 01 that I had.. Sure different type of car, but figured I might as well start here, right? I currently have a 06' Honda Accord... Miss driving 5 speed and that's the the car I am looking at it... So any help would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise hope to see ya around! Thanks for the input.
