Question New owner of a 2001 Cabrio. Many Questions

I just bought a 2001 Cabrio with 5 speed manual tranny. Haven't even sat in a VW since in the 60's so know little about them. I understand that my cabrio is on the A3 platform but know little else.

My main issue is that it will go into R-1-3-5 will a little seaching but 2 and 4 just grind but not engage. I have pulled up the shifter boot and it looks like there are some plastic bushes that are shot. I have a Bentley manual coming but I am confused as to where I can find the correct bushing set to repair this. The places I have looked are confusing to me. (Senior Moment Syndrome).
Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Its nice to see you made an intro on your own.

That isn't an easy question to answer on a forum.

You could try and bleed the clutch hydraulics first, but make sure the brake master cylinder is topped up as the clutch feeds of the top.
