Default New to the forum!

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I am the new proud owner of a 2002 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T, it is silver with black cloth interior and 22K miles. This car is a missile and so fun to drive. I will try to get some pictures together in the next couple of days.

Are there any quirks I should be aware? Are there any issues that I should address right away? What kind of mods are people doing to these cars?

I was wondering why this car does not have a boost gauge? Was it a option I missed out on? I could probably get a pillar guage - what are people doing?

Also, I don't know what to think about the tranny, the car is automatic and it appears to want to get right to 5th gear? There is no driving this car slow huh? But it seems to have that 5speed feeling. The shifts seem a little sloppy with some hesitation? My previous car was a lincoln mark viii, in that car I never felt the trans shift unless I was getting on it.

What is the story with the tiptronic? Are you suppose to take your foot off the accelerator between shifts, or not

Thanks and I love this site!

Default Hey man

Thanks for the words! I really like your page. I used to work @ a Lincoln Dealership
and I too miss driving the Mark VIII. However, my new Jetta rocks! Mine is identical to yours w/ 2 exceptions...
Mine is a 5-speed and I don't have the front tag bracket here in Florida. Absolutely fun to drive and
not easy to go slow! Thanks again and talk to you later.
