My wife got a Beetle (2007 convertible) that she loves and I'm sure we'll keep for a while. The transmission has an issue that it doesn't lock and it doesn't go to Park. I plan paying the $4k to fix it (new transmission) in Fall. In the meantime, I need to be able to put the top down while NOT in parked, as it can't. How can I bypass the feature that keeps the top from being off while in drive?
