Exclamation In need of some guidance

Hey guys, I'm new to VWF and glad to be a part of it, but im looking for some guidance.

If you haven't noticed, I dont have a signature thing underneath my posts with the specs or model of my car. This is because at the moment I do not have a car.

I am looking to purchase a VW - im 100% locked into VW, there's no other choice for me, I love them.

Here is my dilemma. I just so happens that I have a 04 GTI VR6 MK4 in mint condition at my disposal for parts. It runs, but for legal reasons in Canada, I cannot make it road worthy. Therefore I am looking to purchase a MK4 GTI VR6 or a MK4 Jetta VR6 but I can't make up my mind between which one I'd rather have. I can find Jetta VR6s cheaper than the GTI but I am leaning towards the Coupe more so than the sedan.

Being a newbie in VW as I am only 20, and had a Civic SiR for the past 4 years, I have a couple questions.

Would the MK4 GTI parts that come off that 04 fit on any MK4 VR6 Jetta?
Which would be a better choice, the Jetta or GTI?
Is there a difference between the GTI and Jetta (both vr6) in performance?
Is there a big difference in their curb weights?

Any other information to help me choose between the Jetta and GTI would be seriously appreciated since I really know very little about VWs.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond and help me out.

Cheers, and see you around the forums.

thanks again
