Default My First VW (2008 Passat)

Greetings from Tucson, AZ

Just got a 2008 Passat. I need to know what engine type is in it. Apparently, in mid 2008, the engine type was changed from FSI to TSI. How can I confirm for sure?

Welcome to the forum.

Its nice to see you made an intro on your own.

Look at the engine code on the data sticker and post that? So you know its petrol/gas and not diesel?

Thanks, I looked at the VIN sticker on door frame, but I didn't see any other codes that might confirm engine type. After looking under the hood, it says 'FSI', so it has a timing belt.

Where would a sticker be (that shows the engine code) to elminate any doubt?

Thanks

You can't find the engine code from the VIN number unless you have special software.

As I've said:

OK, I think that's where I am having an issue, I don't see the 'data sticker'. There were no manuals with the car and I removed the spare tire, and looked int the trunk, but didn't see anything. I looked on YouTube as to the location, but I still not able to find it.

Thanks.
