Default Jetta TDI

Thinking about buying a jetta but have a few questions from you guys. Owners of VW's
I heard that TDI's are more expensive to repair and break down more often than gas.
Anyone acquainted with the new 2012 jetta. It looks like they skimped out when comparing it with say a 2010.
If anyone has a 2010 or 2011 TDI Jetta would you buy again.
Any other tips would be appreciated. I was going to buy the new 2012 jetta tdi but like I say it looks cheap compared to older models.
Thanks for your input
Nikki

Thanks Keithuk
Thats alot of good info I didnt know alot of that. I would still like some input from Jetta owners (2010) and what they think about the repair issue. Does the Jetta TDI break down and cost more to fix then say a jetta gas engine or for that matter any other make of car not VW.
Thanks again guys

I wouldn't say they break down more than any other car its normally a case of bad or lack of maintenace if you read the threads in myturbodiesel.com as they get older.
