Default Hey fellow VW owners, I'm a newby!

Well, I own a 2000 5-speed Jetta with a 2001 1.8T motor in it. After I baught the car I immediately fell inlove with it but have been having many problems recently. It failed emissions last week, it sputters really bad when I put gas in it (~sometimes to the point of the car dying and it could be completely empty or at half tank when I put gas in it and it still does it...but ONLY when I put gas in it~). Let's see...what else...I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a website or somewhere I could go to buy an ECU for my car. The garage I took it to plugged my car in and said the ECU is bad so I need a new one and don't really want to spend the VW price on it. And if anyone could give me some kind of an idea of why it could be sputtering? Thanks a lot!

ecu is bad? sounds like a missfire or a bad airflow
you run into problems with used ones they have a key immobilizer on them and your car wont even start
