Default Greetings from the cold north

Hello, another new here. I have been around VW's since I bought my first beetle, a 1968 blue, 4spd. I think I paid $388 for it. It would not stay in 4th gear under load. I used the strap that is in the center rear. I am not sure what it was used for, but I adjusted the strap so it would just slide over the shift lever.(I had to spin the **** on/off) and hold the lever in gear. Worked well on the highway. I was in school no $. I now have a 88 Scirocco. It needs an interior except for the front seats. I am going to restore it. any info. or parts would be helpful. Thanks, and Happy holidays.
