Hi all

First time VW owner here. Just bought a 2016 Passat SE TSi for my son as his first car. My previous experience with VW’s was riding in my Dad’s beetle in the 70’s, it was about 10 years old and stank of vinyl.

I have a few questions (best way to get a replacement key and a manual) which I’ll post in the appropriate forum.

Plan to contribute here as we do stuff to the Passat. I have several community posts for my car over at Jaguarforums.

Replacement keys for 2016 Passat are dealer only as they have to be programmed online.

Regarding signature, I had created it before I posted, but it didn't get appended to my first post. I see it there in my subsequent posts. Maybe just takes time for it to work through the system.

Which TDI 1.6 or 2.0 you can add that as well?

 

D6J = 4-cyl. gasoline engine 1.8 l/125 kW 16V turbo FSI, homogeneous Base engine: TH2/TJ2/TF6/TQ6/TF5/TK5
G1A = 6-speed automatic transmission

 

That isn't a TDI. Where did you get D6J from as that isn't a transmission/gearbox code?

My bad, it's a TSi not a TDi. I knew it was gasoline, just got the S/D letter wrong :-)

I have a sticker in the trunk, it looks a little different from the one in the other post. D6J and G1A are definitely in the cloud of part numbers, and then I used the part number code decoder to get those descriptions.

The line about eng/trans says: 125kW A6F CPK NTJ but those codes didn't come up in the part number decoder.

Let me know what should go in my signature and I'll put it there.
