Default RE: EuroSunday Sacramento 2008

What an amazing turnout! EuroSunday Plus featured marque was Citroen and Vespa and did they show up! Pictures are already up and it was a feast for the eyes for anyone who loves cars and bikes. We had the San Francisco and the Sacramento Citroen Clubs join forces to show up in plentiful numbers for this event. Seemed as if the late 1930s up to the late 1970's were lined up at the Pavilions for all to see. My best guess was that we had a few of the following; Traction Avant Saloon, Camionette, CV, CV Wagon, 1D19P, DS 21, and SM. A couple of these came stock with Maserati engines. Some had the European rotating headlights while even more had air suspension. For anyone lucky enough to sit in one of these rides...you would have experienced probably the most comfortable seat ever in a manufactured car.

Vespa was ever present as well and lined up right behind the Citroens. We had members of the Burgundy Topz with their vintage scooters providing the right flavor, and also the Royal Bastards Scooter Club with the modern twist, numbers, and the nice bright colors. First time for many and they fit right in with our usual EuroSunday crowd. With Vespa and Citroen owners you can expect eclectic vehicles and owners who hear more music than the band plays...some worries for me early on when 8:00am rolled around and we had maybe six cars in the lot! "They'll eventually be here" said Richard Bonfond - the Citroen organizer with a shrug of his shoulders. By 9:00am the Citroens and Vespas began arriving and were still coming in by 10:30am! What a beautiful array of cars and scooters coupled with some extremely friendly and fun owners.

Many regulars (Pantera, Ferrari, Viper, BMW~cars and bikes, Porsche, Ducati, Triumph~cars and bikes) were there with some newcomers making there first visit like a Ferrari 308, Noble, 1968 BMW R69, Ducati 1098, 2008 M3 (first one in Sacramento), Lotus, VW and Audi (finally some good numbers for VW and Audi!). Citroen owners eventually left for a short drive and lunch at the Fox and Goose. Royal Bastards had a 10:30am ride starting in the downtown which called for an early leave. The Burgundy Topz also had a ride coordinated leaving from EuroSunday, which left everyone else saying what about us? Well...Adam was out of town and no one else scheduled a drive! He'll be back on our next meet which is SATURDAY, March 22nd at the Pavilions. Sunday is Easter so we are EuroSaturday for one month!!

Euro 500 Rally signups are still available on the web (www.euro500rally.com), but EuroSunday's March 22nd meet is the last day that we can accept signups. Volunteers will be on hand to help with the paperwork, pictures, answering questions, and taking deposits. Please get a jump on this. This rally is expected to be an extended version of our events with an absolutely incredible two day 500 mile drive winding through the California mountain passes. Don't miss this one! Great food, accommodations, cars, and people.

Default RE: EuroSunday Sacramento 2008

Happy Easter Everyone!!!

This months EuroSunday was one of the best we’ve ever seen. The breakfast club was small but consisted of Adam in his M3, Mike in his stunning yellow Porsche RS, Tim T. in is race prepped yellow Spider 355, and Vic in his Porsche 911. The after breakfast drive to the event was one of the most “spirited” we have had to date. At the event we had a 120 plus cars show up ranging from VW’s to Lamborghini’s and even it trailered in Porsche race car. We had several new participants at the event one of which was David and his hand built Factory Five GLM which stole the show. Jim P. was out there in his beautiful Jaguar, Gill in his new M3 showed off its new exhaust upgrade since the last event. Dennis in his Black Edition Mercedes provided a great contrast to David’s Factory Five GLM. A beautiful 280 SL and stunning MG were some of the noticeable first time participants. Two yellow Lamborghini Gallardo’s kicked the event into high gear upon arrival, one Coupe and the other a Spider form. The Lamborghini Spider had driven all the way from Nevada for the event and even participated on the drive.

Grant from Dream Car Solutions and Wade for Action Dent Removal went over all the EuroSunday announcements. Several important announcements were made one being that this Sunday was the last day for the Euro 500 Rally signups. We had several people sign up at the event but with a few more spaces still available we are allowing one more week to mail in any applications that are still out there. March 31 is the last day for applications to be received via email. The Euro 500 Rally will be held at the end of April and will be a great way to start off the summer series of EuroSunday events.

The after event drive was one of the best groups we have seen. David in his Factory Five GLM, and his wife Mary in her Porsche both first time participants were on the drive. Dan and Tim both in their Ferrari 355’s and gave fellow motorist a symphony of exhaust noise as they flew down HW 50. Dennis in his Black Edition Mercedes and Mike R in his Porsche RS teamed up on the drive and helped each other out get through traffic. A 427 Cobra was in the middle of the pack with a NSX in hot pursuit in the straights. Adam in his Mini Cooper made sure the back of the group stayed in line and gave radio updates to the lead cars. Many of the cars that started the drive had prior commitments and had to split off mid drive. Noticeable members such as Jim in his Jaguar waved goodbye to the group around El Dorado Hills. The drive winded its way through the hills of Placerville covering some amazing back country roads. The Lamborghini Spider met up with the group on the back half of the drive to finish off a great section of the days festivities. The last half down Sunrise turned into a sea of yellow, where both Mike in his Porsche RS, Tim in his yellow Ferrari 355 and the Lamborghini Gallardo Spider played a “respectful” game of cat and mouse with Adam in his M3 in hot pursuits. The drive ended at El Toritio Restaurant off of Sunrise.

Thanks to those who came out this Easter weekend! Hope to see you all at our next event EuroSunday plus on April 13.

EuroSunday Plus Recap Sacramento:

This month’s EuroSunday Plus in Sacramento highlighted Pantera, DeLorean, and Bricklin makes as the featured marquees. With ten Panteras, a Bricklin, and a DeLorean there was an enormous of horsepower disturbing the otherwise docile tarmac as they rolled in to Pavilions. Each car was as unique as the owner, one of which had a nitrous kit installed in an already powerful car. Several interesting vanity plates also made this Plus event one of the most entertaining to date. The solo Bricklin and DeLorean fit right in to the groups making for some amazing photo opportunities.

Several other mentionable cars in attendance were Dennis and his Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series, Greg in his classic Stingray Corvette, and Don in his new 2008 BMW M3 with the massively strong new V8. Some new cars in attendance were a yellow and red Ferrari F360, a yellow Ferrari F430, and four Maserati GranSport coupes. Ferrari had an amazing showing for the event, given the featured marquees. The event featured the most diverse showing of Italian cars to date for a EuroSunday Plus event. There were several other vehicles on hand including a Factory 5 replica racing cobra, two beautiful 1969 Camaros, a slew of Acura NSX’s, several BMW’s, and Audi and Volkswagen cars. There was a good showing of bikes at the event as well including Ducati. Colby and Joe from Luxury Motors were on hand in a beautiful Morgan club car. Grant and Aaron from Dream Car Solutions were out to support the Pantera club in a stunning Orange Pantera powered by a vicious GT-40 race block.

The event ended around 10:00 with the ground shacking pavement begging for mercy, as large block V8’s started up and departed. There were a few late comers that rolled in at the last minute, including a Ferrari F430 with a challenge grill, and a Silver Porsche Carrera GT.

The next EuroSunday Plus in Sacramento will feature British cars of all makes and will be meeting in Davis, California. Details will be posted to the website soon.

EuroSunday’s Sacramento gathering was a record breaker this April, with approximately one hundred cars in attendance. We had one of the broadest collections of cars and bikes Sacramento has seen to date. In terms of motorbikes, everything from BMW to Ducati’s new desmodici arrived on scene. The event was also blessed with the new BMW M3 decked out with one of the first coilover kits from Ground Control. In addition, Sacramento enjoyed the presence of a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Porsche GT3RS, a Porsche 997 Turbo, a Corvette Stingray, Bentley Arnage and an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, to name a few. Some new additions to EuroSunday this month were a Morgan Club Car, a 2008 Subaru WRX STI, a number of Cobras, and a Dodge Viper GTS whose owner drove all the way from Jackson, CA.

Announcements were given by Sacramento’s new spokes woman Amar, who has graciously agreed to volunteer at Sacramento’s monthly gatherings. A highlight of the event was Abram from Autobahn Detail who showed off his pristine BMW E36 M3. Also, the Sacramento Acura NSX club arrived with a number of cars that could not be ignored. A fan favorite at this month’s event was “Poppy Row”. An array of spectacular yellow vehicles lined up together in the main parking lot, giving rise to the phrase “Poppy Row.” “Poppy Row” was comprised of a race spec Acura NSX, Porsche Carrera RS, Ferrari F30, Porsche 914, Lamborghini Gallardo and a convertible Porsche Carrera. Sunglasses were a necessity to observe this stunning display.

The event drive was an 80 mile trek through the hills of Placerville lead by EuroSunday co-founder Adam Cook in his BMW E46 M3 CSL. Twenty-Four cars traveled along HWY 50 inviting the stares (and drools) of other less fortunate motorists who were not part of the bevy of BMWs, Porsches, Vipers, Corvettes, Acura’s, Audis, Cobras and hot motorbikes in a swift moving caravan. An interesting twist to our “Sunday drive” was our happening upon a group of 1960’s Corvette Stingrays also out on a “Sunday drive.” The groups traveled together for a few miles forming one massive high horsepower convoy. The Stingrays eventually pulled off to regroup, with our EuroSunday drivers honking and waving to show their support and respect for fellow gear heads. The drive ended in Folsom where 16 attendees gathered for lunch where, of course, conversation about cars continued. All agreed, a perfect way to end an afternoon.

Keep on the look out for EuroSunday’s exciting new changes and events in Reno, San Diego and Seattle, WA will be commencing in July and August respectively.

Mother’s Day EuroSunday

Sacramento’s EuroSunday Plus took place this Mother’s Day weekend and the featured marquee involved the beloved British vehicles. Even with the holiday, we were 40 cars strong with half of those being British make. There were several Aston Martins ranging from the V12 Vanquish, DB9 Volante, and several Vantage V8s. Also seen were MG’s, Jaguar, Lotus, Triumph and Austin Healy. We even had two Nortons and one Triumph motorcycle find our hidden parking lot! (Our lot was so difficult to find that it forced us to change the location for our next EuroSunday in Davis. While it was ideal for having our group secluded, it also prevented folks from finding us in the first place. Thankfully Steve Prine was armed with an orange flag to wave us all down and direct us in to our spots).

Another fun story from the event had to due with the “furthest drive award!”. An Aston Martin Vantage V8 managed to come all the way from Hawaii just to attend our event =) [see the pics of the event for proof] The owner chronicled his trek for us and how much a pain the traffic was coming from Hawaii. Ok, maybe he did not drive here and he was not here just for the event but never the less it was a great story we all enjoyed. Other none British makes on hand were Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, Pantera, Mercedes, and Cobra. All of them out to admire the row of Union Jack cars!

As everyone had plans to spend time with their Mum’s, we ended the day without a drive to Streets of London. Because of Mother’s Day and being too close for an annual affair for the British Car Club, we will have another British event for EuroSunday Plus again later in the year. Keep your eyes and ears open for the announcement on this second event.

All of us here at EuroSunday wish you and your families the best and hope that you all had a great Mother’s Day.

EuroSunday Sacramento Recap:

Thank you to everyone that came out to Elk Grove this past Sunday for our event. I was fortunate enough to meet and introduce myself this week to many of you, but for those of you that I did not get the chance to personally speak with, I am Amar Dhariwal the Sacramento Regional Manager for EuroSunday. I am very excited to be a part of this organization, and eventually look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. Here is a brief background on me, I was born and raised in Birmingham England and I have lived here in California for the past eight years; six of those years were spent working at Bank of America. Two years ago I transitioned into financial services and am now working with Larry Stiver at Asset Strategies Group as a Senior Advisor.

This past week’s event had a positive turn out with just over 50 cars and bikes despite the Memorial Day weekend. The weather was great and we had some new beauties includinga 1964 Ferrari 275 GTS and a classic BMW motorcycle with sidecar!!It’s a Grind Coffee once again was a fantastic host…they even had a “EuroSunday” blend of coffee for our members.

The drive up to Napa was gorgeous…VW, BMW, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Porsche were not only the makes represented…but they made for an excellent variety!Steve Prine lead the group through the foothills to the Silverado Winery. The Silverado Winery is continually hospitable and gracious towards us and we would like to say thank you for that.

Overall everything was perfect, including those who attended..We had a great time and expect that to see attendance begin to grow exponentially as summer approaches!June’s Plus event will feature Ferrari and Maserati at the Pavilions location. We look forward to seeing you there..
