2004 Jetta - Anybody know what's going on?
So, my car has been having some problems. The first problem first started when I was in bumper to bumper traffic. My battery light randomly came on, and I couldn't accelerate. If you restart it right after this happened, the car won't start. However, if you wait a couple minutes, the car starts and runs. For awhile, when stopped, I would just keep my RPM's up, and nothing seemed to happen.
My mechanic said it's because I was using regular gas, which I'm an idiot for doing so. He thought the problem was the gas, but I knew it was too good to be true... So, I was stopped at a stop light, and wasn't keeping my RPM up, and the battery light came on again. However, it did something it hasn't done before. When I was driving, around 40 MPH, my RPM dropped completely to 0, the battery light came on, and I couldn't go anywhere.
Do you guys have any idea what could be the problem?

Welcome to the forum.
Which engine petrol or diesel?
You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
