K&N High Flow good or bad?
Hey, I'm new to this forum but I've got a question. I just bought a 04' Jetta GLS 1.8T off lease. I wanted to get more air without spending a lot and wanted it to be easy so I bought a K&N High Flow filter to replace my stock one. I've heard that they are bad for the MAF sensor but I've had it in for about 3 days now and it hasn't done a thing. Are these accusations true or false about them? Also, will a high flow filter increase gas mileage? If so by how much? Thanks
thats why i got a heat sheild, its a bad idea to have one of the cold air intakes that put the filter down by the wheel wells where i livecause ive had several friends (not in vw's) suck up water and mess their engines allup. and my frontmount cools the hell out of my charge air anyways

Cold air intakes for 1.8t are useless, the turbo heats up the air when it compresses it, thats what the intercooler is for. If you guys put a new k and n on it will be fine, the problems come about when people clean and re oil their filters with too much oil. This is when the maf ****s up. If you want real performance nothing beats a foam intake, try ITG...

Yea but that defeats the purpose of "cold air". you are just sucking in hot air now that is swirling around the engine bay.
