TCC circuit malfunction

TCC circuit malfunction
Ref: 2002 Beetle TDI
Check engine light came on; used my OBD II AutoScanner and got two error messages: (a) P0671 - glow plug/heater cylinder 1 and (b) P0740 - TCC circuit malfunction.(TCC is torque converter clutch.) It seems unlikely that both problems would occur at the same time unless they aresomehow connected. Car is asymptomatic--would not have known to check if light had not come on. Any thoughts on the matter my VW brothers (and sisters)?
