My rearview mirror just fell off my 99 Passat. I pulled the base from the mirror, but I don't know how to remove the steel disc from the base. In prior cars, I had to mount the steel disc first and then secure the base and mirror to it. Does the mirror on the Passat work the same way? or should I mount the base with the steel disc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figured out what to do. I just mounted the base to the windshield and it held fine. I didn't attach the mirror until the base cured for 24 hours.
