I replaced the battery recently in my 2006 Polo, and lost the radio lock (no surprise). My radio was in SAFE mode, displaying the number 1000. As I did not receive the radio code when I bought the car used, I obtained a set of removal keys and removed the radio to get at the serial number. As soon as the radio was clear of the dash cavity, I accidentally hit the on switch, and the radio started playing and is now fine as if nothing ever happened. I don't want to complain about getting my radio back, I just wonder what I did wrong, (or right).
