Default Over heating problems

Alright so I ran into my first snag. My car has started to over heat. I took out the thermostat, except there wasn't one, replaced it and it still over heats. I drained the radiator fluid. Still over heats, and it does it quick too. I don't know if it is just the gauge is wrong but it only takes ten to twelve minutes to get all the way into the "danger zone" Ummm just looking for some places to start looking. I can take pictures if it would help.

Ohhh I forgot it is an 83' Rabbit GTI with a 95' 2.0 ABA OBD1 swap.

Are you saying its over heating because the temperature gauge goes over to hot or is the system pressurising and your loosing coolant?

Have you removed the radiator and reverse flushed it?

You need to remove the water pump as the impellor could have fallen off.
