Need help with tire sizes
Folks, this may sound crazy, but I need help with
a '74 Dodge Dart. I came here to this forum because
I need to find a narrow tire to use as a spare for
my son's ol' Dart. I was told to check Volkswagens.
His car has the old style spare tire well recessed
down into the trunk floor. In order for his pressed-board
spare cover and vinyl floor mat to fit flush with the
surface of the trunk's floor, the tire can't be wider than 6" max.
The rim I am going to use is 14"x4-1/2", and the tire
well can accomodate a maximum diameter of 26".
Anyone know of a tire on the older Volkswagens that
will fit these criteria? One last thing... the Chrysler lug bolt
pattern is 5 bolts on 4-1/2" dia. What did the old Volkswagens
use for their bolt pattern?
Thanks for any help,
Jerry
