I have a Golf 1.5 TSI EVO Match Edition, which I bought new last December. At about 2500 rpm I feel a kind of vibration and noise from the engine and I am wondering if my car is fitted with a Soundaktor. No mention of it in the owner's manual and I could not find it anywhere in the vehicle specs. in the infortainment. Is my fitted with a Soundaktor and can anyone tell me if there is a way to turn it off?

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

 

Thank you Keithuk. My car is new - done less than 1900 miles. If it is fitted with Soundaktor, I though that one of you guys would know it without the need for scanning. If it cannot be turned off or disabled by the owner, then I would not want to touch it.

 

You says its new but there is no year on your car spec Golf 1.5 TSI (150bhp).

Is it new to you or is it still under warranty?

I don't have DPCA engine code I would says its.

Check the engine code on the data sticker. Please tell us your car spec in your signature

 

It is brand new car. First registered in December 2019 and under the warranty. That is why I am "nervous" of doing anything to it that is not within the scope of owner maintenance. DPCA engine code is so new that all I have in the owner's manual "there is no details of this engine at the time of print". A friend of mine had a really bad experience. He had an Audi A3 and when the gearbox (DSG 7, same as mine) broke down the dealer refused to do anything because the car had not been serviced by an Audi dealer. The cost would have been over £4000, so he sold the Audi and bought a diesel Golf with manual gearbox. Naturally, he was seething with rage for months. So, if any of you guys can guide me on how to disable the Soundaktor through the Infotainment menus, I'll have a go, otherwise the car goes back to the dealer. I don't want to look a real charlie if it is not even fitted with Soundaktor hence the question.
