Default I want my 63 convertible done right and I Need Help!!

I am in the process of having my dad's 63 convertible restored and have numerous questions. sure hope someone can help.
1. Did this model have a light in the headliner over the rear window?
2. Did the word Volkswagen in script appear on either the front or rear lids?
3. Was there a chrome bezel around the two back tail lights?
4. Was there an ashtray on the panel in the rear on the right.?
5. What material were the hub caps made of ? Were they painted? What did the VW emblem look like on them.?
6. Was the VW crest on the steering wheel chrome with all black castle and wolf, or was there color on it?
any other note worthy features you can recall would be greatly appreciated.

the car has been in the family since 63 and we just took it out of the garage after 25 years. couldn't believe that the tires still held air in them!!! My dad painted it numerous times as he ran for President of the US in it and had words from the Constitution and various flags painted on it. this is a very sentimental project for me and I want the car to look as it first was when purchased from Chick Iverson in Newport Beach almost 50 years ago.
thanks for your assistance. MissJ63

I can't really help you on those items as ETKA (detailed part catalogue) only goes back to 1999 for the Beetle and 2003 for the Beetle Cabrio. I'm sure there are sites out there that restore old Vdubs.

I don't recall Volkswagen being is script on any panel they have only used VW.

I do know they used to have big chrome wheel hub caps with VW embossed on them.

Default More numbers

We found the other plate that had the VIN number. It was very hard to read, but we think it read:

Gesamigen 1160
vorn kg 480
zul.Achsiast hinten kg 680

what do these numbers mean?

I'm not sure as the language translators won't translate it looks like the towing weight.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. The best option is to ask a dealer itself. Before going to them make sure that you note down these questions and ask them in an organized way. It will help you to have more knowledge.
