Hi Racer002

Do these instructions work for the 2001 Beetle?

The reason I ask is because I just got my car and the dealer didn’t have an extra spare key for me…so he gave me some other VW’s key+FOB and told me to get he key part recut at the VW dealership and to reprogram the FOB part myself to save $$$.

And if your instructions do work in my case, can you please clarify which key you are referring to in your instructions? (i.e. which key goes into the ignition, the original or the spare?)

Thanks so much for you help!

In terms of this things,i used to go to a dealer. They know more on how to do it exactly.I tried to search for an instruction but can't find the right one so i decided to let the dealer do it for me.

I was just wondering how often you change your oil on your bike? Cuz I know that no one goes by the book...sm=icon_flaming.gif

Even i was startled ,how often u change your oil on the bike?

mikehussy 03-19-2010 10:17 PM

You have to take the key to a local dealership that has Nissan's. They will give you a quote on how much it will cost. Usually these are pricey, but in some incidents they are not. I work at a salvage yard and many of the older vehicles are STILL expensive. The fob itself I KNOW has to be programmed unless its a system you have had installed yourself.

How to program your key fob

When I had to get 2nd key for my S60, I got one from RUFE and then my local dealer had to code it to the car.Im told that its important to get the bar code that comes with the key as thats what they use to get the software to read the key into the car as opposed to receiving the signal fromt the fob.SO the answer is as far as Im told its a main dealer job..

Brainset 07-29-2010 07:12 PM

Right on, write on about whatever you feel best.

What you want to do is known as "locking" a program, such that its source code cannot be accessed.

Kansas City will come out on top. They have the best rushing attack in the league at 160ypg, a powerful defense featuring Dorsey on the end, Arenas and Flowers at CB, and Vrabel outside, and Cassel is finding a comfort zone with Bowe.

awesome key fob re-program instructions

God bless the internet! Having just replaced the battery to my 06 Jetta key fob, I found that the transmitter wasn't communicating with the car. These instructions worked like a champ. One note of clarification - put the good key in the ignition, use the non-functioning one outside the car. I tried it the other way around the first time, and it didn't work.

VW key fob has two parts. First one a transmitter or a remote and secondly a mutable code transponder along with main key. Initially for programming you have to make sure that you select the proper remote. select the required frequency. For programming there are two parts. first to operate the door and second function is as car immobilizer.

How to program your key fob.

You have to take the keys to a local dealer that Nissan. They will give you an estimate on how much it costs. Usually expensive, but in some cases they are not. I work in a former page, and many older vehicles are still expensive. The same should be programmed fob SO unless you have installed the system yourself. :)
