Just bought my 99 Golf a couple of weeks ago.....having trouble figuring out what model i have though. It's a 2.0L but when i'm shoping for different stuff such as exhausts and intakes etc, etc....most sites have MK III or MK IV or GL/GLS for the models....I just don't want to start buying stuff only to have to try and return it because i bought for the wrong model. Plus then i don't feel like an idiot not even know what exactly it is i'm driving.......any help would be great!!

if an owners mannual came with it that is the easyest way to tell. but if not there are slight difference between them in how the body looks and how the engines place ment is and how large of engine

 

This information should be on the inside of the driver's side door panel, usually a white sticker or metal plate that is riveted to the frame. When you open up the door, look down at the inside of the door.
