I live in Thailand and have a 1997 Mk3 Golf Estate. I have some questions, if you can help!

Is there a reliable, recommended company that I can order spare parts from that will deliver to Thailand for a reasonable price?

My car is currently broken - something has gone wrong with the fuel system somewhere. A local mechanic thinks it might be this item: Bosch 0280150 651 765 E with 99 on the side.
It is about the size of a spark plug and fits on top of the petrol tank under the rear right passenger seat. (As soon as I can get a picture I will post it.)

What is it? Is it some kind of fuel injection filter? I tried to Google it but cannot find a matching picture.

The Thai mechanic says it would take 6 weeks and cost about 90 Euros. These seem way out of order to me!

I'll try to find a place that ships worldwide. I think your part is the fuel sending unit. Six weeks sounds like a long time. If it is the sending unit, 90 Euros sounds about right.

 

Out of my list, germanautoparts.com is the only shop I can find that ships internationally.

 

added gas to my 2002 diesel volks by mistake, drove it 80K, it quit, is the engine toast??Has anyone had this experience and what was the outcome.

 

Hello Brayan, the car in question is not mine, however it has been found out that the diesel fuel injection pump is shot to the tune of $1600.00 for a rebuilt in Canada, they are in the US for 856.00 US. When all is said and done the gas in the car will be one expensive fill up. P.S. This car had been driven several hundred kilometers with gas/diesel mixture. If the pro blem had been identified early on the pump might not have been comprimised.

 

just get a new fuel filter and see if that helps.
