help dad make a decision
I need some help/advice on purchasing a GTI for my son. I have found two locally, both are silver 5 speeds with black leather interiors, that is where the similarities end, can't decide which one to pursue. Please give me your opinions. Thanks
Car #1- 2000 GTI VR-6. This is a very customized car with 103,000 miles. Some of the features are-GLX model, moon roof, black carbon fiber hood, LED headlights & tail lights, full custom ground affects kit (looks good, not cheesey), new alternator and complete new shifter assy. New 19" black wheels and tires .
Car #2-2002 GTI 1.8T. This is a pretty much stock car with about 130,000 miles. It has new black custom wheels and tires. In the last 25,000 miles it has a new clutch, timing belt and a/c system. It has been serviced and maintained well by a VW shop. Rear bumper is faded, other than that, the exterior and interior are in good shape.
Both cars are similarly priced, around $4000.00. Which is a better car or better deal ? Any opinion out there. My oldest son had a a 94 GTI with a 2.0 in it, and it was a good dependable car, that did not cost much to keep on the road. Will either of these give me a couple of good years of service ?

Welcome to the forum John.
Well I don't know what its like in the States but young first time drivers in the UK will pay more for the insurance than buying the car. They buy the car for cash but have the insurance on tick. I would getsome insurance quotes before you make a decision.
Giving an opinion of a car on the web is very difficult as we can't see the car phyically all you can do is Google for any info. If it was a TDI then I can give you loads of threads to browse.

Well I have not heard of this car at all. So this is a new car concept for me. Now if you ask me about the above mentioned deal I can guess from the features and tell you which you should opt for. I will say that you should go for 2nd option. It covers good mileage as well as interiors & exteriors are also good. So go for the second car option.

2000 and 2002 aren't new car concepts, it all depends on which country you live in?
2000 GTI VR6
2002 GTI 1.8T
2000 GTI VR6
2002 GTI 1.8T
