Golf cranks but won't start after sitting in the sun.
I bought my 2004 VW Golf GLS 4 door hatch back brand new from my local dealership. It has a 2liter 4 cylinder engine & an automatic transmission.. I have about 107,000 miles on it. In August 2018 my wife was out driving it and she stopped at a red light and the engine shut off and would not restart. Some good Samaritans helped her push it into a nearby parking lot. By the time I arrived about an hour later it fired right up and seemed to be fine. No warning lights lit on the dash so we chalked it up to who knows what. About a month later it did the same thing but the engine warning light was lit. I pulled the codes out and they pointed to the crank sensor. I went and bought one and installed it cleared the codes and drove on. I've since had to replace it 3 more times and heres the kicker, if I drive it to work and leave it parked in the sun it will crank but not start. Today I pulled it out of the garage and left it in the sun all day when I got home about 5pm I tried to start it and it would crank but did not start. Anybody else out there ever run in to this problem??
