engine oil

Default engine oil

i recently bought an 2009 jetta with the 2.5 i 5 and wasnt sure what engine oil was best for it i bought 5-30 mobile 1 syn but it dosnt say vw sandarads on the back is this ok

If its a 2009 Jetta with the 2.5 5 cylinder then it looks like its a TDI. The VW oil spec for that engineis 507.00 it should say that on the container.

Engine oil?
Just asking people is the myth about longer engine life and better engine running, by changing oil every 5000km warranted? Or is the manufacturer of every 6 months / 15,000km sustainable? After about 7000 i notice the oil started to turn brown in colour - not really burnt though.
