Default Campers

I have a couple of questions. I'm taking a job that will keep me on the road quite a bit. I was wondering how feasible it would be to restore an old (1969ish) VW Bus with a bed in the back to the point where it would be reliable transportation. Barring that, I was wondering does Volkwagen still make the van with either the pop-up camper or a bed in the back? The last ones I can remember seeing were the old vanagon with westfalia pop-up campers.
One more crazy idea (this one's out there). As gas prices rise, how feasible would it be to put a biodiesel engine in an old VW Bus and still have it be reliable? Has anybody heard of this happening? Does anybody know a custom shop that would do such a thing?

Default RE: Campers

biodiesel doesnt require an alteration to the engine, but the biggest expense of it is having to make your own fuel...it has always been my understanding that a regular diesel engine will run biodiesel...as for traveling with a VW van with a bed in the back, i have seen stranger things. the hardet part would be finding a VW van in good shape with which to start your project.
