Default Block heater for 2007 Rabbit

Hi,

I just bought my first VW, a 2007 Rabbit and I'm absolutely loving it!

One concern I have is that the dealer didn't install a block heater, they told me I don't need one, synthetic oil and all of that. But here on the Canadian prarie it can get down to -40C in the winter. I can't bear the thought of starting my car in the winter with the oil sitting like a lump of molasses in the bottom of the oil pan. I've always plugged in when it gets down to -15 to-20C. That's whatwe do here in the winter, plug our cars in!

Should I just not worry about it? I'm really tempted to just go and have one installed anyway. What do you guys think?

Glen
