Default Automatic starter / neutral switch

Hello all,

2006 Golf GLS 2.0 manual

First off let me say that this is my first postin this forum so I hope that thisthread is in the right place.
I just recentlyhad an automatic starter installed at a local shop and I'm not too thrilled withthe way things are working.Here's my question;
In order to program the automatic starter these are the steps I have to go through
1. park the car pull the e.brake and put trnsmisson in neutral
2. when parked and engine still running I have to press the KEY icon on my remote starter
-lights will flash twice to confirm
-I can now remove the key from the ignition
3. exit the car and close the door
4. the doors will automatically lock, alarm will armand the automatic starter will be ready to activate when needed for the next time

Now at any time after the above steps let's sayI have to either get something in the trunk or back seat, the automatic starter will not function once a door is open. I know this is for security reason in case the gear shift is bumped into gear, but if VW's are equipped with a neutral switch shouldn't the installation technician have wired the remote starter to the neutral switch so the driver wouldn't have to go through the whole programming process in order to start the car?

Let me know what you think and I'd like to know for those of you that have remote starters how does your work?

Thanks
