Default Airbag Trouble

Hi,
After crashhing my 05 golf tdi, i had to have the airbags replaced along with other work...when the air bags wer replaced the warning light on the dashboard went off, however a reminder still pops up on the dashboard saying 'airbag fault'. Does this mean there is still a fault with the airbags or does it just need to be reset somehow. If it only needs to be reset, does it have to be brought to a VW garage or is there a simpler way??
Any help would be appreciated!!

You can save a lot of money by resetting the ecu yourself by detaching the battery cables and holding them together for about a minute.
