Default 96 GOLF GTI

HEY THERE I'M NEW TO YOUR FORUM..AND I NEED SOME ADVICE.. MY 96 GOLF GTI IS ACTING UP.. I HAVE A OVER HEATING PROBLEM AND SOME LACK OF POWER ALL OVER THIS BAD BOY.. IT NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP IF ANY ONE IS WILLING TO HELP ME OUT I'D APPRECIATE IT..

Check your thermostat, usually the cause of an overheat problem. Another thing is to make sure your fan is working, could be a bad switch. As far as lack of power, you change plugs and wires, MAF Sensor cleaning spray, change oil/filter, and change air filter. That's easy stuff, now you could compression test your cylinders to see if the head gasket is blown, that causes overheat and loss of power. Just suggestions so...take care.
