Hey fellas,

My 86 Cab will only shift into 3rd after the car has been driving for around 15-20minutes. If I get onto the highway and drive in 2nd going 45mph it tends to drop into 4th a bit faster. Definitely not ideal. I don't think this is the mounts, they were replaced and linkage is tight. I changed oil in trans. Any ideas?

assuming that your car has an auto transmisson,did you change the transmission filter aswell ?

 

If it isn't under warranty, go to an independent mechanic. Dealers will charge higher shop rates, and they'll charge you at least a few dozen percent more for parts.

This is part of where the term "stealership" comes from.
