2001 Cabrio Ignition Coil fails repeatedly
My sons 2001 Cabrio GLS convertible Ignition Coil fails repeatedly. I have changed the spark plugs and wires, new distributer cap and button. New Battery. I have replaced the ignition coil about 6 times (different brands) now and the last two lasted about 15 minutes. The last two were similar in failure in that I ensured the battery was fully charged, using a trickle charger, so I know it was at full charge. It started up fine and seemed to run better with the new spark plugs and wires. I drove it about a mile and stopped to check the tire pressure, keeping the car running. After checking all four tires I got in and put it in drive a went 10 feet and it died. When I tried to restart it just turns over but doesn't start. Same every time and if I put in a new ignition coil it fires right up. Can anyone give some guidance on what to check or change? Please help. Thanks!
