Your 2000 Jetta won't be 24v its 12v.

i have a 2003 vw jetta gli with a vr6 engine in it, how do i tell if it has 12v or 24v

All cars are 12v the older air cooled VW's are 6v. Look at the battery if it has top up caps a 6v will have 3 as 12v will have 6.

run your vin number through the dealer, plus your engine code Dafont Showbox Adam4adam will tell you, plus I think the valve cover or head stamping or something on the motor will tell you. But yea Racer how do you know it's 24V?? cause GLI? I have GLS I ran my vin through dealer came back AWP motor code I think? so yea....ha ah

Your lucky, it's a 24 valve. 200hp vs. 170 from the 12v.
