Should i turbo my 2.0 jetta?
I have 2000 2.0 jetta that i want to turbo. i was told that if you turbo this motor it will blow, and also that it has to be a vr6 motor to turbo it. i believe that the new jetta comes with a 2.0 turbo motor. so what is the diffrence. please help me out guys, i want to make the right decision.

RE: Should i turbo my 2.0 jetta?
A "Turbo Motor" is designed around the forced induction that the turbo (or a supercharger) provides. Cam and ignition timing is different and compression ratio of the pistonsis usually different. The ECU and fuel injection is going to be different as this stuff controls or is controlled by the turbo and it's output. You would be more ahead to put a new 2.0 turbo motor in your Jetta than to try and put a turbo on your existing motor. Just because they are both two litres, doenn't mean they have anything in common.

Doesn't really sound likeyou know much about turbo engines, and knowing that I wouldn't get into turboing your stock 2.0. It's not an issue with blowing the motor, the 2.0 is a fairly strong engine, it's no cavalier by any means. They make turbo kits for this car that will put you around 170 hp which is still less thana stock 1.8T. Not something I'd recommend at all for the money. Your options within reason are:
-Exhaust
-Intake
-GIAC chip
-Headers
-Performance camshaft
-Underdrive pulleys
Max N/A you'll be pushing with those upgrades would be like 140 hp or so, then if you got some stiffer suspension and solid motor mounts you could probably put most of that to the ground.

if it was an mk3 gti 2.0 I would say do it. otherwise do what you want to do. Its your car do what makes you happy, if you take the right precautions you could pump a good 8psi in that 2.0 and have a fun little jetta. your not going to be rolling on sti's anytime soon but im sure the smile it puts on your face would be worth it.

I didn't mean the cavalier was a good motor, I was saying it's a small I think 2 liter maybe 2.2 liter engine that has pistons practically made out of wood. As for saying the 2.0 is a fairly strong engine I meant that it is definitely able to withstand a turbo kit made for it, I know if you did a standalone system and got a turbo much bigger than your fist you'll probably spit your bottom end out of your exhaust, but they can handle a turbo kit just fine as long as it's made for that car.

peice one together its cheaper, and if you get it tuned right it will run good. a t25 turbo would be ideal for the 2.0 its small so A. it will fit in tight spaces and B. the housing being as small as it is is going to spool quickly at low RPM's
