Default Installing Aftermarket CD Player

I am debating on installing a aftermarket cd player in my 2003 Jetta. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? I was curious to see if the alarm system or anything was wired through the stero? In the past I have installed head units in numerous cars but none that ever had an alarm system or anything.

So if I would just get the basic wiring harness I should be good?

Does anyone have a wiringdiagram of what each wire does?

Thanks,

Doug

yeah, it has no effect on any of that stuff, i have an 02 GTI and had no problems with any of that, the only issue you run into is some of the wires in the factory harness and the after market harness don't exactly matche up, all of them but the power and att wires work, its a long story if you want me to elaborate i can. but its easy to get around

I've matched everything color to color from the harness to the aftermarket stereo on my 03 Jetta and now my stereo doesn't shut off when I turn the car off, what should I do? Plus the dash lights don't come on anymore either.
